Lack of interest kept most non-voters home

"Most Canadians who didn't cast a ballot in the May 2 election say they were too busy or just weren't interested in voting, according to Statistics Canada."

Other findings from the report
  • Unemployed non-voters were most likely to say they were not interested in voting.
  • Among non-voters with less than a high school education, 30 per cent said they were not interested versus 22 per cent among those with a university degree.
  • Immigrants with Canadian citizenship cited their schedules as the main reason they didn't vote.
